Washington begins the year at No. 1

Defending national champion Washington has opened the season as the No. 1 team in the NFCA/USA Today Division I softball Top 25.

The Huskies open defense of their national title with a Thursday night contest against Auburn in the Arizona State-hosted Kajikawa Classic.
